Welcome to Stillwater Elementary
"Home of the HAWKS"

Stillwater Elementary opened it's doors in 1989 and  is located near Lake Marcel, east of Redmond and Bellevue, near the foothills of the Cascade Mountains. Our school serves students from kindergarten through fifth grade. Our population extends to Lake Joy, Lake Margaret and areas of unincorporated King County. We are a school of approximately 490 students. During the school year, we serve as a district site for a special services classroom. Classroom teachers average 20 years experience. Educational assistants serve children in bus lines, on the playground, in the lunchroom, and as instructional assistants as well. A full-time librarian, music, and PE teacher serve children daily.

Stillwater is known for the many opportunities provided to students. We support an active Ham Radio Club, intramural sports, 5th grade beginning band, and an Associated Student Body leadership program. Students also are active with Safety Patrol, Library Helpers, or as part of our Custodial Support Team. An annual Walk-A-Thon and Bingo Night raises thousands of dollars for books and technology.

Our school motto is:

"Be Respectful, Be Responsible, and Be Ready to Learn!"

Stillwater's Mission Statement

Each student is a unique individual. Stillwater staff will nurture the academic, physical and emotional well-being of each student to support academic performance and social interactive skills. Positive, proactive approaches will be used in all settings with students. All students will be given an opportunity to achieve consistent expectations with recognition for their efforts. We are a supportive school community where learning and student performance is our focus.

Therefore, we will:

  1. Provide a safe, caring environment where student growth is maximized within the expectations, beliefs, and support of the community.
  2. Agree on and support common goals designed to develop academic, social and physical skills.
  3. Ensure that these skills will allow our students to be positive, supportive, and contributing members of our free and enlightened society.

Parents and Community will:

  1. Advocate for their child's interest.
  2. Communicate openly and participate fully in the education of children.
  3. Support the policies, procedures, practices, and activities of the district which are in the best interest of all students.
  4. Ensure that students come to school ready to learn.
  5. Support the education program with time and resources.

Students will:

  1. Give their best effort.
  2. Be open to learning.
  3. Ask questions.
  4. Contribute positively to the school and its mission.
  5. Respect themselves, others, and property.
  6. Become involved in a variety of academic, social and community activities.
  7. Have fun.

Invitation to Participate

Parent and community involvement in the classroom and with special activities is encouraged and welcomed in the Stillwater Community. We enjoy a high ratio of parent volunteers who participate regularly. They assist in the classroom, in the office, with health screenings, in the library, as test proctors, or serving as student mentors.

Our PTSA is a vital support system to our students. With an annual budget of approximately $60,000, they provide a multitude of enrichment opportunities for Stillwater students and support classrooms as well. They sponsor activities such as Elf Workshop, Missoula Children's Theatre, Reflections, educational assemblies, Art and Nature Docent programs, skating parties, parent education, and playground equipment. PTSA provides monetary support for field trips, the learning resource center, author visits, music and physical education, and families in need.

Volunteers are valued at Stillwater Elementary!
